The term ‘domestication’ originally refers to the process of bringing wild animals or plants under control and using them for food or as pets. In journalism research, ‘domestication’ generally refers to journalism practitioners establishing an association between a foreign news event and the domestic audience by applying certain strategies of representation (Gurevitch et al., 1991). In this study, ‘domestication’ describes the strong institutional inertia under which new media outlets have been progressively involved in the orbit of newspapers. Accordingly, this process homogenises the new media outlets with the system, routines and cultures of traditional media.

Interestingly, in the presence of 50 nM bafilomycin, sporadic ALS iMNs also contained significantly fewer GFP+mRFP+ vesicles than controls (Figure 2, A and C, and Supplemental Figure 2B; 3 controls and 5 sporadic ALS patients), indicating that autophagosome formation was impaired in sporadic ALS iMNs. Thus, both the C9ORF72 and sporadic ALS iMNs display decreased rates of autophagosome formation.
These findings provide an empirical foundation to organise the interview outline and the type of interviewees that should be recruited in the following interviews. More importantly, the results mentioned above indicate that journalists in Fujian do embrace new technologies. In this case, the journalists are not resisting media convergence because they have negative attitudes towards new technologies but due to institutional, organisational and value reasons, which will be discussed thoroughly in the next section.
Quantification of the effect of TMX2 reduction by shRNA lentiviral transduction in two independent control iPSC lines, as performed in Fig. 7. Induced motor neurons were generated from iPSCs using a seven factor (7F) differentiation system. The survival of HB9-RFP+/shRNA-GFP+ iMNs was tracked by imaging after the addition of 10 µM glutamate to the cultures. All iMN survival experiments were analyzed by log-rank test, and statistical significance was calculated using the entire survival time course. *p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01 (survival assays were performed in triplicate with the indicated number of iMNs analyzed for each group, Supplementary Table 4).
Generally, the journalists’ reluctance to collaborate can be explained under the binary structure of ‘traditional media versus new media’, which is manifested at three levels. At the institutional level, the antithesis of traditional media versus new media is represented as the schism between ‘inside the system’ and ‘outside the system’. Given the impact of new media and the existing ideological control, the Fujian press industry has opted to sacrifice part of its economic gains for political security, which is also an option for journalists ‘inside the system’. At the organisational level, the antithesis is manifested as the enmity between the traditional and the new media departments. Divergent interests have made the leaders and journalists of metropolis newspapers less willing to cooperate with the centre compared with their counterparts from the party organs. At the individual level, the binary structure is manifested as the competition between professional journalists and other we-media runners. Faced with challenges from non-professional information providers, most journalists opt to follow their occupational boundaries and refrain from adding their voice to the new media.

Upon the death of Yunchang and the accession of Goujian, Helü seized the opportunity and launched an attack on Yue. At the Battle of Zuili (槜李之战), however, Yue defeated Wu, and King Helü was mortally wounded. Before his death, he instructed his son, the later King Fuchai of Wu, "Never forget Yue!" Yue would be defeated three years later by a resurgent Wu, and Goujian captured, to serve as Fuchai's servant for three years before he was eventually allowed to return to his native state.
