Before and after 2006, Chinese scholars began exploring the potential effects of ‘media convergence’ on news production in the context of digitisation being launched pervasively among press groups. A few of these scholars believe that convergence journalism, as an outgrowth of media convergence, provide gradual changes to the actors of news production, news source, communication medium, content, form and workflow (Cai, 2006).

As a manifestation of the administrative barrier within Fujian’s press groups, the estrangement between metropolis newspaper offices and the new media centre has a further impact on the relationship between journalists and editors. Even when providing news, metropolis newspaper journalists are rather reluctant to invest time and energy and are less willing to cooperate with editors than their counterparts from the party organ due to lack of support from departmental leaders. Hence, conflicts over role misplacement frequently occur during their communication with the editors of the new media centre.

Consequently, mTOR inhibitors were shown to be ineffective at rescuing autophagosome formation in C9ORF72-deficient neurons and it is unclear if pharmacological agents can restore normal autophagy initiation (16).

With either pulsatile glutamate treatment or neurotrophic factor withdrawal, iMNs from all 6 sporadic ALS patients degenerated significantly faster than control iMNs (Figure 1, B–F, and Supplemental Figure 1, M and N). iMNs derived from additional iPSC clones from the same sporadic ALS patients also degenerated faster than control iMNs (Supplemental Figure 1, O–Q). Thus, iMNs derived from these sporadic ALS patients degenerate significantly faster than controls and at a similar rate to C9ORF72 ALS iMNs. These findings strongly suggest that the donor sporadic ALS patients from which these iMNs were derived harbored genetic variants that contributed to their motor neuron disease. Therefore, iMNs from these patients have the potential to provide insights into mechanisms of neurodegeneration in sporadic ALS cases.

After filling the gap in policy, advertising has significantly promoted its proportion in media revenue. As of October 1992, domestic newspapers that achieved financial independence had accounted for one-third of the nationwide total (Zhao, 1998: 50). Because autophagy induction can enhance TDP-43 turnover in motor neurons (26), we wondered whether 3K3A-APC treatment could prevent the cytoplasmic accumulation of TDP-43 in ALS iMNs. 3K3A-APC treatment for 6 days significantly increased the nuclear-to-cytoplasmic ratio of TDP-43 in C9ORF72 and sporadic ALS iMNs to control levels (Figure 3, G–J; 2 controls, 2 C9ORF72 ALS, and 6 sporadic ALS patients). Thus, 3K3A-APC treatment can rescue autophagosome formation, lower DPR levels in C9ORF72 ALS iMNs and rescue DPR-mediated neurotoxicity, and reverse the cytosolic accumulation of TDP-43 in C9ORF72 and sporadic ALS patient iMNs.

Consistent with the notion that rescuing lysosome numbers in C9ORF72 ALS iMNs might enable autophagic flux even with increased autophagosome formation, the increase in the ratio of GFP+mRFP+ vesicles to GFP–mRFP+ vesicles upon 3K3A-APC treatment was modest compared with the overall increase in GFP+mRFP+ vesicles in both C9ORF72 and sporadic ALS iMNs (Supplemental Figure 2, R and S; 3 C9ORF72 ALS patients and 5 sporadic ALS patients). Thus, 3K3A-APC treatment increases autophagy in C9ORF72 and sporadic ALS iMNs by rescuing both autophagosome formation and lysosome numbers.

This decision means that the Chinese media must be dedicated to Party and government propaganda whilst earning profits and seeking for industry development. This institutional framework enabled the metropolis newspapers to emphasise the function of profitability that emerged in the mid-1990s. Differing from the party organs, the metropolis newspapers have consciously catered to the preferences of the audience in terms of content, including considerable emphasis on the timeliness, relevance and interesting aspects of the news, concentration on social and personal stories and a continuous increase in the proportion of entertainment and leisure contents. Zhao (1998: 159) opined that these measures are more about supplement than disobedience to the party organs, thereby extending the official ideology further to the social, personal and even mental domains.

Jan. 2019: Check out this new submission: ‘‘Block-Randomized Stochastic Proximal Gradient for Low-Rank Tensor Factorization’’. This work uses a combination of randomized block coordinate descent and stochastic proximal gradient to decompose large and dense tensors with constraints and regularizations. The complexity saving is quite surprising. The total number of MTTKRPs (which dominates the CPD complexity) needed for the proposed algorithm is very small (see BrasCPD and AdaCPD in the figure).

By this point, the situation had become critical for the Chongzhen Emperor, who rejected proposals to recruit new militias from the Beijing region and to recall general Wu Sangui, the defender of Shanhai Pass on the Great Wall. The Chongzhen Emperor had dispatched a new field commander, Yu Yinggui, who failed to stop Li Zicheng's armies as they crossed the Yellow River in December 1643. Back in Beijing, the capital defence forces consisted of old and feeble men, who were starving because of the corruption of eunuchs responsible for provisioning their supplies. The troops had not been paid for nearly a year.[15] Meanwhile, the capture of Taiyuan by Li Zicheng's forces gave his campaign additional momentum; garrisons began to surrender to him without a fight. Through February and March 1644, the Chongzhen Emperor declined repeated proposals to move the court south to Nanjing, and in early April, he rejected a suggestion to move the crown prince to the south.[16]

To determine how 3K3A-APC might stimulate autophagosome formation, we performed RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) on C9ORF72 ALS iMNs treated with 3K3A-APC or inactive 3K3A-APC for 3 days (2 C9ORF72 ALS patients). Consistent with our findings in the mRFP-GFP-LC3 and immunoblot assays, both Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) and KEGG pathway analysis revealed “autophagy” as one of the most significantly enriched gene sets (Supplemental Figure 2, E–H). RNA-Seq and quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) showed that 3K3A-APC significantly increased the expression of ATG5 and ATG10, which encode proteins with key roles in driving autophagosome formation (ref. 25, Figure 2D [qRT-PCR], Supplemental Figure 2I [RNA-Seq], and Supplemental Table 4). Thus, 3K3A-APC increases the expression of genes encoding autophagy-initiating factors in ALS iMNs.

According to Mai (2012: 155–168), these two paths have rendered the cooperative interactions between the traditional and new media outlets far less frequent, if not totally suspended, and are likely to further alienate the newspapers from the original or latest new media departments. In other words, both paths create new administrative barriers whilst breaching or circumventing the original administrative barriers.
One of the goals of media convergence in the reconstruction process is to modify the journalist–editor relationship by veering from ‘journalist-centred’ to ‘editor-centred’, such that journalists shall mainly undertake the role of information gatherer, whereas editors perform the role of information synthesiser. Regarding real news production, most new media centre editors are recruited from the members of society who are familiar with new media but inexperienced in news gathering and editing; thus, they are mere ‘stevedores’ rather than ‘processors’ of texts. Given that editors lacked the required qualifications, journalists were forced to undertake additional tasks (e.g., verifying information and converting statements from frontline journalists into text) that should have been performed by editors.

Upon the death of Yunchang and the accession of Goujian, Helü seized the opportunity and launched an attack on Yue. At the Battle of Zuili (槜李之战), however, Yue defeated Wu, and King Helü was mortally wounded. Before his death, he instructed his son, the later King Fuchai of Wu, "Never forget Yue!" Yue would be defeated three years later by a resurgent Wu, and Goujian captured, to serve as Fuchai's servant for three years before he was eventually allowed to return to his native state.

An intronic GGGGCC repeat expansion in C9ORF72 is the most common cause of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and frontotemporal dementia (FTD), but the pathogenic mechanism of this repeat remains unclear. Using human induced motor neurons (iMNs), we found that repeat-expanded C9ORF72 was haploinsufficient in ALS. We found that C9ORF72 interacted with endosomes and was required for normal vesicle trafficking and lysosomal biogenesis in motor neurons. Repeat expansion reduced C9ORF72 expression, triggering neurodegeneration through two mechanisms: accumulation of glutamate receptors, leading to excitotoxicity, and impaired clearance of neurotoxic dipeptide repeat proteins derived from the repeat expansion. Thus, cooperativity between gain- and loss-of-function mechanisms led to neurodegeneration. Restoring C9ORF72 levels or augmenting its function with constitutively active RAB5 or chemical modulators of RAB5 effectors rescued patient neuron survival and ameliorated neurodegenerative processes in both gain- and loss-of-function C9ORF72 mouse models. Thus, modulating vesicle trafficking was able to rescue neurodegeneration caused by the C9ORF72 repeat expansion. Coupled with rare mutations in ALS2, FIG4, CHMP2B, OPTN and SQSTM1, our results reveal mechanistic convergence on vesicle trafficking in ALS and FTD.
